"SHELTER IN PLACE" in a Fire Storm ???
I couldn't believe what I was hearing in the early morning hours of November 15th. The fire storm was raging in Sylmar, California. Santa Ana winds were blowing hot burning embers into the residences and Oakridge mobile home park of Sylmar. The news anchor on KCAL 9 asked the LAFD spokeswoman about mandatory evacuations. She said to "shelter in place"! She told people "don't panic", and they didn't want evacuees clogging the roads.
How the hell do you "shelter in place" while your house is burning?!?!
